Because I Promised

Nothing brings more joy to an author than a word of appreciation from its readers. When I self-published my book Because I Promised…to lock my heart away I spent many an apprehensive nights awaiting the readers’ verdict. When eventually the reviews did start dropping in, I was elated. The reviews were mostly encouraging. Those that were not, were constructive and critical. Today I wish to take this opportunity to thank all my readers, especially the ones who took were considerate enough to drop in a review.  In this post, I bring to you some reviews for my book Because I Promised (Click here to read some excerpts from Because I Promised)

Because I Promised

Romila – Author/Blogger

Anupriya has written the novel in a good style with easy to understand and native words. The well written story can hook any reader. You cannot ask for a better debut novel. This book will have you turning the pages like I did. I finished it in a single read with 2 cups of coffee. Anupriya’s characters are not sugar coated as is the norm for novels these days and they don’t resemble the lives of other known or famous people. The book was not slow and it offered an interesting insight into the story as the pages moved ahead. The language employed in description, narration, and dialogue is straightforward and simple.

Get yourselves ready before reading the book, since there are lot many characters you need to keep in mind when you start reading. The book’s plot is kind of usual, a proposal being rejected, career prospects, hard work, success and so on. So the book has all sorts of emotion- friendship, romance, family drama, brother- sister sentiments.

The writing style is simple and engaging. Even though the plot seems to be usual the narration and other factors make it a good script for a Bollywood movie.

Because I Promised is the perfect pick for a relaxing weekend or journey, if you are looking for an entertaining yet mature read. True to her philosophy, the author has subtly intertwined the aspect of love in different relationships into a engrossing tale that is more than a just another love story. It speaks of a cause , an important social issue and the lead character’s devotion towards it. The story is set in a typical north Indian joint family, the characters are a little stereotyped and every one is very nice (some grey shades would have been interesting ) and somehow felt like a Suraj Barjatya movie . But the plot is full of twists and turns, relatable moments and everything comes to closure in the end which makes for a happy ending. All in all , a great first novel ..and the author definitely holds lots of promise!!!

I loved Sushant’s persistence and thoughtful personality, maybe a little more than Varnika. He gave serious goals to romantic heroes. However, I can’t deny Varnika is a strong, independent young woman who concentration on causes her believe and work hard for it. Strong female protagonists are always delight to read.

I like the book, but would have absolutely loved it without Hinglish words. Hindi conversations or dialogues written in English. Not to forget about little editing tweaks. It’s a good lazy weekend read.

A promising debut novel.
I liked the emotional ups and down and the lucid narration. I love second chance romances. with memorable characters. There are quite a few well-portrayed characters in this book especially Varnika, Sushant, Badi ma, Swayam, Avni etc.
Looking forward to reading more from the author.
