Book Review – Handbook of Day to Day Parenting Tips by WOW Parenting

If you are tired of reading pages after pages, posts after posts about positive parenting, its time to graduate to WOW Parenting.  The parenting concepts shared through 27 chapters in this ebook available only on Blogchatter Ebook Carnival portal, may not be pathbreaking, but they definitely are convention breaking.

As for me, a mother who is constantly seeking motivation to train my thick head towards positive parenting, I was bowled over by the crisp but new age coinage to some well know parenting behaviors. One of the concepts that I found to be really insightful was ‘Age Based Communication’ and ‘Parenting Structure’. I wouldn’t spoil the fun by elaborating on these concepts here.

Finally I found one parenting blogger cum author in the form of WOW Parenting, who believes in the power of free play. The fact that kids need to be allowed to get bored, so that their creativity can find its natural course out has been emphasized upon very aptly.

Another reason why I am very impressed with this book is that it talks about the harsh reality that we as parents might be incapable of being the ideal role model for our kids.  What do we do in such a circumstance? As per the book, we set our kids up with people in or outside the family who can prove to be role models. Or expose them to stories of people who live by certain emulation worthy qualities.

P.S. – The focus of WOW Parenting throughout remains on defining our role as parents as facilitators and help our kids to prepare to move out of their comfort zone and honing up their creativity. All the while remembering that we are always there for them as their anchors.

So many new concepts of parenting are emerging. The idea that kids should be allowed to get bored. Today kids have many avenues to keep themselves engaged, provided of course they come from families that can afford. In earlier times, a few decades earlier kids would naturally get bored because there was nothing much to do. Some played games, some studies, others sat and chatted. I guess these days most play games on their phone.
