As a child and even as an adult, I have always dreaded cold and nasal congestion. And my fears have deepened after becoming a mother. Most of the times, I am the kind of mother who encourages her kids to take calculated risks and does not fret too much when they fall sick or get hurt. I rely on homemade remedies for common ailments like fever, sore throat, body ache, colic pain, etc. In most of the cases, the homemade remedies do work and I am spared a visit to the doctor. But that’s that! When it comes to cold and nasal congestion, I find myself helpless and clueless. The reason being that kids are extremely prone to catching a cold and, more often than not, this common cold results in either a running nose or nasal congestion.

As the latest researches have proved that antibiotics are really not a solution to cold; that leaves me as a mother with few options to treat the ailment. The worst kind of cold is the one that causes nasal congestion. The effect of nasal congestion on kids is extremely unpleasant and discomforting. A few to mention here are –

Sleep deprivation

Nasal congestion does not allow a child to sleep peacefully, and therefore, the kids get deprived of sleep and feel drowsy.

Crankiness

Children get extremely cranky because of the discomfort caused due to nasal congestion.

Difficulty in eating/avoid eating

Due to nasal congestion, children tend to avoid eating or find it difficult to eat.

My father has always relied on natural therapy such as steam inhalation as a remedy for nasal congestions. But how do you get your toddlers to inhale steam? From their inability to sit still at one place to the discomfort of bearing the heat, the challenges are many. Every time either of my boys has a congested nose, I am almost heartbroken. To watch them struggle the entire day with swallowing food down their throat is really painful. Kids tend to gag more while they eat when their nose is blocked, and this also makes them irritable. Sometimes, my younger one cries continuously because of breathing discomfort. I shudder at the helpless nights of watching my extremely tired little one slumber into sleep and then suddenly wake up crying or fidgeting in sleep due to discomfort caused by their inability to breathe naturally.

But recently on consultation with my doctor, I brought this magic wand that solved my problems. This magic wand is called Nasivion® Pediatric (Child) Nose Drops.

Nasivion® Pediatric (Child) Nose Drops 0.025% is a nasal decongestant in an easy drop form that provides up to 12 hours of easier breathing. 1 – 2 drops into each nostril, 2-3 times a day is sufficient to provide relief from nasal congestion.

This Nasivion® Pediatric (Child) Nose Drops 0.025% composition works well for both my kids who are over 1 year of age. The good news is that Nasivion has a 0.01% composition for babies upto 1 year of age too. (Please check the Nasivion website for dosage details.)

A further discussion with my family doctor revealed that the Nasivion Nasal Saline Solution can be used as a first line of treat for nasal blockage for anyone. Yet if the problem is aggravated further, then after consultation with him, I could use Nasivion® Pediatric (Child) Nose Drops 0.025% composition specially made for kids.

With Nasivion® Pediatric (Child) Nose Drops life looks much better in the face of a now treatable, nasal congestion. I find calm in watching my boys as they sleeps peacefully again. Thanks, Nasivion!

Note: Always consult your pediatrician before using Nasivion Nose Drops.
