What I Learnt From The #BlogchatterWritFest

My Writing Journey

In the beginning of my career, writing was not a part of the core tasks that I was expected perform. My creative writing ventures had been limited to the submissions I made for my school magazine, or the speeched I wrote for myself for various events that were conducted at college or in my organization. Structured writing of research papers was a part of my curriculum during my MBA. But that was again a job that needed to be done within a certain premise. Years later, I came to be a free-lance admissions consultant to help candidates write and edit their Statements of Purpose and Essays to present their profiles in the best light. That was the first time, I came to understand story-telling. Though the scope was limited, but it was story telling nevertheless. I was helping people write their stories to answer the queries about their strengths, weaknesses, challenges faced in personal/professional lives and their greatest learnings till date. #BlogchatterEbook Carnival – A Perfect Launchpad For Blogger To Author Transition

posted by Anupriya May 2, 2019 0 comments

I have re-iterated time and again that the dream of becoming a published author has become an attainable dream in the current times. The scenario is not like it was a decade back when one had to be dependent on publishing houses to get their work to reach out to readers.

And its not just about traditional publishing or self-publishing any more. It is also about the freedom that comes along with the option of self-publishing in terms of the content. You are the master of your content. The length of your proposed work today could be the usual 70k words, or you may chose to write just 40k or 25k, or even just 10k. If you think that your words make for a comprehensive and a coherent read, you are good to go and put your work out there for your targeted audience. Continue Reading

Why I Joined The Book Review Program from Blogchatter

posted by Anupriya April 7, 2019 0 comments

I first came across the concept of book reviews when I was in college doing my engineering. We had a students voluntary group where we encouraged one member to share a book review every week during the regular weekly meetings. A couple of years later I created a book review blog, with an aim to read a book every fortnight and review it for a wider audience to read it and get inspired. Yet life caught on and this blog was ignored royally.

When in 2016, I set up Mommytincture, with an objective to record my experiences as a mother, I kept toying with the itch to review books on this blog.

AtoZ Challenge 2019 – Theme Reveal

posted by Anupriya March 18, 2019 22 Comments

AtoZ Challenge 2019 is around the corner and at this juncture I am reminded of my first attempt at AtoZ Challenge in 2018 with 26 short fiction stories about Parenting and the gamut of relationships and emotions it engulfs. I had participated in the month long blogging challenge with Blogchatter and as is their proposition, I submitted the set of these stories as an ebook, which was published during the Blogchatter eBook Carnival.

As a blogger who’s been around for three years now, I have participated in numerous blogging challenges, but one can easily mark AtoZ Challeng as the Daddy of all Blogging Challenges, for no other challenge makes you test your commitment and grit as this one. But once you get the hang of it and complete it successfully once, you are bound to come back to it again the following year. AtoZ Challenge 2019…. here I come! Continue Reading

Bullet Journal – Planning my 2019 effectively

posted by Anupriya January 2, 2019 1 Comment

What is A Bullet Journal?

A Bullet Journal is a superlatively descriptive format of a Diary or a To-Do Journal that you maintain to keep a record of your daily, weekly, monthly activities.  Not only is it descriptive, it also puts almost everything in Black and White.  When I first came across the idea of a bullet journal, I set out to make one but didn’t realize that I need to put a premise to it. Confused? Ummm, let me explain.

A Bullet Journal could be used for various premises of your personality. It could be a virtue tracker, a habit tracker, health tracker, work task tracker and every other tracker that might exist under the sky.  So yes, last year when I set up a Bullet Journal for myself, I tried to squeeze in everything together. I amalgamated my personal errands, my blogging tasks and my Pranic Healing Virtue Practicing all into one journal. As a result, by the end of month one i.e. January, 2018 I was too overwhelmed to create the entire monthly log the second time. I still managed the second month and dragged through it by going back to my journal not daily (like I did in the first month), but only weekly. The weekly affair then turned into a monthly affair by March and by April, I felt too hassled to go back to the Bullet Journal format. I was happy with my daily to-do list and my blog to-do list.  The satisfaction that crossing out the items and adding the items gave me was unmatchable. Continue Reading

Blogchatter Projects – Throwback 2017

posted by Anupriya October 5, 2018 3 Comments

Last  year when Blogchatter announced the Blogchatter Projects, I jumped in with my feet first without too much thought or planning. I had just one concept in mind – ‘Spirituality for Everyone’.

Almost a decade back I had learnt about energy healing though Reiki, and last year I got introduced to another school of energy healing namely ‘Pranic Healing’. In the meanwhile, I have had fair exposure to Sahaj Yoga and have friends you practice Bhuddhism. I decided that I would get in touch with people who are long time practitioners of these various spiritual schools and bring some reference points for my readers to analyse and understand them. My metric parameter for the project was to track the Page views on my posts through various channels. I wanted to figure, from where the traffic that will be most interested in meditation and spirituality come from. Continue Reading

#MyFriendAlexa Season 3 – Wrap Up

posted by Anupriya September 30, 2018 1 Comment

#MyFriendAlexa Season 2 was the first ever Blogging Challenge that I ever participated in. Just to let you all know, this was almost 15 months after I had started blogging. But unitll I came across twitter updates about #MyFriendAlexa Season 2,  I was only remotely aware that a parameter of a successful blog existed in the name of Alexa. Not to mention that obviously I did not have an India Alexa Rank then.

By 30th September, 2017 I went to an India Rank as low as 39,000. But then I lost the plot and saw my India Rank Alexa plummet to 2Lacs plus. That was where I stood on 1st October, 2018. I started #MyFriendAlexa Season 3 with a proper content plan. 4 Book Reviews and 4 posts on #Karmic Fitness. The books and themes were well planned in advance, so writing the posts was really not a problem (except for drafting the last post, because we at our home had started with the annual cleaning project at our home on 22nd Sep.) Why Every Blogger Should Participate in #MyFriendAlexa – Season 3

posted by Anupriya August 16, 2018 6 Comments

When I signed up for #MyFriendAlexa last year, I only knew that this campaign will help me improve my alexa rank. I didn’t exactly understand what it means exactly then. To me it was a number that depicted how I (rather my website) was performing in the larger scheme of things. It was one of the challenges that was going to bring some tangible results in terms of change / improvement in my blogsite’s Alexa rank in a month’s time.  So I took it seriously. At the end of the month, did I see a difference? Yes I did! When I started I did not have an India Alexa Rank. But by the end of the month I had reached somewhere around 50k. Some progress that was! Parenting And A Slice Of Everything – #AtoZChallenge Theme Reveal with #BlogChatter

posted by Anupriya March 19, 2018 4 Comments

I had earlier written about how I came to know about the AtoZ Blogging Challenge almost 18 months back (Read here). Until last year I did not have it in me to take this ultimate blogging challenge, but this year with some preparation and aspiration to reap the benefits of this daily blogging challenge for my blog, I feel extremely confident and excited.

It won’t still be easy as I’ll be travelling through the first week of April meaning that I will have to schedule my posts much ahead. Given that I have already drafted the first 11 posts , I feel less jittery and hope that I will have not lost the mojo by the time I get back to writing 10th April onwards. Continue Reading
