Book Blurb – All You Need Is Love – The Art of Mindful Parenting by Shelja Sen

I accept and love you the way you are. You are unique, you are different and you are you. I will not compare you with others, I will not constantly keep expecting and demanding what you might not be able to do or give. As parents, we foist our dreams and aspirations on our children, push them to be more than we could ever be. But do we have the courage and honesty to look within and ask what drives our parenting – our own needs or those of our children?

Project ‘My Happiness’ 2019 – A Happiness Initiative

posted by Anupriya December 26, 2018 0 comments

In the beginning of 2017, I was making significant progress as a blogger, my kids were growing up fine and my life at home in general gave me nothing to brood about much. Yet, I felt hollow within. It was a strange feeling. I didn’t know what exactly was a I lacking in life that was making me restless.

Come December, 2017 I came across Upasana’s blog and read about her Gratitude Pie. So my new year’s resolution for 2018 was keep a record of all the reasons I had to be thankful about during a day. Slowly lethargy took over, and I updated my gratitude pie once a week and then once a month.

Read my monthly gratitude posts here.

Slowly, I drifted from keeping a record of things that I was thankful about to things that made me happy. It was just easier to think about one thing that made me happy at the end of the day. That one daily feel good  bullet point became pivotal to my mood for the next day. Slowly, I knew that my life’s good and I have more than one reason to be happy in my daily routine. You might want to know the effect it had on me. Continue Reading

Blogchatter Projects – Throwback 2017

posted by Anupriya October 5, 2018 3 Comments

Last  year when Blogchatter announced the Blogchatter Projects, I jumped in with my feet first without too much thought or planning. I had just one concept in mind – ‘Spirituality for Everyone’.

Almost a decade back I had learnt about energy healing though Reiki, and last year I got introduced to another school of energy healing namely ‘Pranic Healing’. In the meanwhile, I have had fair exposure to Sahaj Yoga and have friends you practice Bhuddhism. I decided that I would get in touch with people who are long time practitioners of these various spiritual schools and bring some reference points for my readers to analyse and understand them. My metric parameter for the project was to track the Page views on my posts through various channels. I wanted to figure, from where the traffic that will be most interested in meditation and spirituality come from. Continue Reading

Never Lie To Your Kids – #KarmicFitness

In the first post of this four post series of ‘Karmic Fitness’ theme this month, I told you about how one needs to train oneself at three levels (physical, mental and emotional) to not criticize others and appreciate them genuinely. Why it is very important to sow the seeds of appreciation and non-criticism to reap similar fruits. You can read about my endeavor to practice this aspect of karma here.

After completing the challenges of week 1 of the Karmic fitness program I was kind of prepared for any kind of task in the coming week. After all as a highly opinionated person, I have consciously begun to refrain from even mentally criticizing anyone. Any other task, I presumed, would surely be a cake walk in comparison. Or so I thought! I guess the universe is hell bent on proving me wrong. Continue Reading

I participated in two half marathon’s last season, which were also my first and second marathons of my life. I realised that running a marathon entails different meanings for different people. For professionals it’s about the competition. But for most runners, a Marathon brings about a gamut of life lessons.  In this seven post series I am going to draw your attention towards these very life lessons.

My finish time for my first Marathon was 101 minutes. I was just glad that I crossed the finishing line. While for the second Marathon, I clocked a finishing time of 91 minutes. Yes, a straight 10 minutes reduction from the first one. The two Marathons were only 15 days apart, yet there was a sea change in my running experience. Continue Reading

A holiday that I waited for a lifetime, came at a time when I least expected it. Nik had begun his formal school and Lucky had just turned one. That’s when AJ realized that we haven’t travelled to any exotic destination in a while (ummm to be more precise that was 6 years back to Goa). Suddenly he had this pang to travel to a foreign destination that too on our 7th wedding anniversary (which was just 6 weeks away) I panicked, because I had no clue how we were to make the trip work with two kids, when my darling of a mom-in-law came to my rescue and asked me to travel sans the kids.

“They are too young to enjoy the trip. And I think you two need a break too.” I will always love her to the moon and back for pushing me out alone with the husband and have a 12 day long trip. Continue Reading

HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR RELATIONSHIPS THROUGH POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS – #SuperBloggingChallenge2018 #Instacuppa

‘When you really want something, the universe conspires to bring it to you’ –Paulo Coehelo, Alchemist

‘Absolutely everything you experience in your life is a result of what you have given in your thoughts and feelings, whether you realize you have given them or not.’ – Rhonda Byrne, ‘Secret’

Both the statements above make you believe that ‘Energy follows Thought’. And if that is the case, it is only and only in your hands to improve the deteriorating or stagnant condition of your relationships. ‘Mindfulness’, a simple practice of training your mind to think in a particular manner and consciously make an effort to always think positive is called ‘Affirmations’.

The founding premise of the ‘Affirmations’ technique is to train one’s mind to think in a specific way. As per the practitioners of mindfulness and mental wellness, affirmations are the most powerful tool that every individual possesses with or without knowledge, which has the capability to bring drastic changes in quality of life. Make Success Your Way of Living – #BookReview

One day my boss (an extremely professional man with many success stories to his credit) reached office in an extremely flustered mood. I pensively inquired about what the matter was. He hassled to set up his laptop on his work station and replied without looking up at me, ‘This is too much for me.’

My eyes flared up wide and I waited for him to continue.

He then met my eyes and said exasperatedly, ‘This is too much of anticipation and action for me as a new father.’

I shrunk my eye brows in suspicion, ‘Boss! You’ve been a father for two years now.’

My boss replied instantly, ‘Yes! But I am a new father to a two year old. I have no idea how to handle a hyperactive toddler. And he comes up with a new antic every day. What am I suppose to do?’

The conversation changed route after that, but the idea of ‘a new father to a two year old stuck with me.’ Isn’t life like that for everyone. Whether it’s a student, a working professional or a home-maker; it could be about studies, work responsibilities or relationships.  The dynamics keeps changing every now and then. Unpredictable! Yet, so many of us struggle with every changing phase of life – from teenager to young student, student to professional, single to married and so on. Most of us find such comfort in the known while the unknown leaves us perplexed and disheveled.

Well for those who find themselves struggling with the uncertainties of life and those around us, those who are engulfed in self-doubt at any turn of events in life,  blogger and writer Ravish Mani’s ‘Make Successs Your Way of Living’ is a must read.

Lately I have been reading a lot of about how ‘energy follows thought’, and Ravish’s book comes to me like a gospel that reaffirms my belief in this theory. The good part is that Ravish hasn’t taken the preaching path; instead he has brought in numerous stories, folklores and examples to make his point.

The author not only touches upon various topics such as success, attitude, action that mold sour lives positively, but also elaborates on some trend breaking concepts related to self-doubt and fear that can actually help us enhance our creativity.

This book comes to me at a time when I am struggling with self doubt not as a mother, daughter or a wife, but as an individual in general. I often find myself pondering upon the question about the purpose of my existence. I feel so much unrest while I wonder why things are the way they are in my life.  Well Ravish’s book has given me enough food-for-thought in terms of how even this doubt is both futile and necessary at the same time. If someone is facing more hurdles in life, it only means that a person is on his path of growth and evolution. Tests of life are meant to make one grow, and so we ought not to be discouraged by them.

I had literally stopped reading self help books around 12 years back when I decided that no one book can provide a general recipe of happiness and success that would be applicable to all mankind. But lately again and after reading this latest happiness manual, I have realized one thing. It’s that, that, ‘ The recipe of happiness and success is in fact the same. It lies in following some virtues whole heartedly and shedding ones ego and other inhibitions.’  Every self help book is an effort by those who have found a unique way to understand and follow these virtues.

In that sense, Ravish too has made a very sincere effort of bringing some eye-opening yet simple concepts of life to the fore-front. I really appreciate his initiative to spread the message of happiness and success through his book.

My Verdict

Ravish’s writing style is simple yet he makes impact with his examples and theories of good living. He does a good job of giving the reader a good amount of food for thought for better living. While I believe that one cursory read cannot do justice to any self-help book, one must make use of this free downloadable and give it atleast one shot. I am sure you wouldn’t be able to keep yourself away from the book then. You will definitely need to go back to it, to understand the deeper meaning of how changing your life is in your own hands.

Pranic Healing® is a highly evolved and tested system of energy medicine developed by GrandMaster Choa Kok Sui that utilizes prana to balance, harmonize and transform the body’s energy processes. Prana is a Sanskrit word that means life-force. This invisible bio-energy or vital energy keeps the body alive and maintains a state of good health. In acupuncture, the Chinese refer to this subtle energy as Chi. It is also called Ruach or the Breath of Life in Hebrew.

Pranic Healing® is a simple yet powerful & effective system of no-touch energy healing. It is based on the fundamental principles that the body is a self-repairing living entity that possesses the ability to heal itself and that the healing process is accelerated by increasing this life force that is readily available from the sun, air and ground to address physical & emotional imbalances. Master Choa Kok Sui says “Life Energy or prana is all around us. It is pervasive; we are actually in an ocean of Life Energy. Based on this principle, a healer can draw in Pranic Energy or Life Energy from the surroundings.” Continue Reading
