#MyFriendAlexa Season 3 – Wrap Up

posted by Anupriya September 30, 2018 1 Comment

#MyFriendAlexa Season 2 was the first ever Blogging Challenge that I ever participated in. Just to let you all know, this was almost 15 months after I had started blogging. But unitll I came across twitter updates about #MyFriendAlexa Season 2,  I was only remotely aware that a parameter of a successful blog existed in the name of Alexa. Not to mention that obviously I did not have an India Alexa Rank then.

By 30th September, 2017 I went to an India Rank as low as 39,000. But then I lost the plot and saw my India Rank Alexa plummet to 2Lacs plus. That was where I stood on 1st October, 2018. I started #MyFriendAlexa Season 3 with a proper content plan. 4 Book Reviews and 4 posts on #Karmic Fitness. The books and themes were well planned in advance, so writing the posts was really not a problem (except for drafting the last post, because we at our home had started with the annual cleaning project at our home on 22nd Sep.) Karma of Finishing What You Start – Karmic Fitness #4

Are you wondering already, what remains to be said about  becoming successful after the third episode on Karma of Success – Karmic Fitness #3. When I sat down to think of factors other than consistency of hard work might affect my success, I couldn’t think of anything other than the factors mentioned in the episode #3.  But Episode #4 on Karmic Fitness by Neha Jain of GMCKS Lightworkers based on Master Choa Choc Sui’s teachings had me in for further introspection. Click here to watch full video.

One has to admit that our success is heavily dependent on other people who form a part of our landscape. In every situation anyone will have internal and external stakeholders, who play varied roles in taking your endeavors to the next level. Let’s take for example, if I were to create a map for attaining success in my blogging journey, I would analyse my situation as having the following stakeholders – Continue Reading

Karma Of Success – KarmicFitness #3

For a long period of time, while my husband was a struggling aspiring entrepreneur, he chose to remain off social media (read Facebook). I often mocked him for his ignorance, yet probed him to understand his reasons. I mean, why would one decide to remain ignorant of one platform that was his only window to his social circle (at that time). One day, after 7 years of marriage, he finally decided to open up.

“Look dear! I am struggling with my profession right now. We havn’t been on a decent vacation for last 5 years. And I know that you are craving for one. With two kids, to take care of, life seems a little tough at this juncture. When I open my facebook, I see all happy faces having an awesome life. I know that’s not the complete picture. People mostly put up only the bright side of their lives on their walls. but it does make me cringe and wonder that I may not be doing enough for my family. Or feel desparate about ‘when will my time to enjoy life come’. It’s not a good feeling. I can feel negativity seep into my conscience. So, I’d rather stay away from it.” Continue Reading

Why Every Blogger Should Participate in #MyFriendAlexa – Season 3

posted by Anupriya August 16, 2018 6 Comments

When I signed up for #MyFriendAlexa last year, I only knew that this campaign will help me improve my alexa rank. I didn’t exactly understand what it means exactly then. To me it was a number that depicted how I (rather my website) was performing in the larger scheme of things. It was one of the challenges that was going to bring some tangible results in terms of change / improvement in my blogsite’s Alexa rank in a month’s time.  So I took it seriously. At the end of the month, did I see a difference? Yes I did! When I started I did not have an India Alexa Rank. But by the end of the month I had reached somewhere around 50k. Some progress that was! Celebrating Dussehra And Killing The Ram Within Us

“Dasha Hara means removal of 10 bad qualities from within us. Vijaya Dashmi means victory over these 10 bad qualities.” – I woke up to this Dussehra tweet by Virendra Sehwag and recounted how we have grown up learning that the good always wins over the bad; Continue Reading

Positive Parenting with Meditation (the spiritual route to being positive)

As a mother, I often feel that a lot of what I say, do or react to my children is impacted by my state of mind, my emotions and also my surroundings.  Have you ever felt that the optimism or pessimism in your surroundings gets on to you and you, in turn, behave in a similar fashion?

As parents, we know that children’s actions are not motivated by wrong intentions. They are just instinctive. They are either naïve and don’t understand the implications of their words or actions; or they have no knowledge of the territory they are traversing into. In any case, if you are a parent who reacts too easily or worries too much, I am sure you feel the need for a magical wand to help you keep calm. Continue Reading

Parenting in the 90s

posted by Anupriya September 9, 2017 37 Comments

When I look back at my childhood and of those around me, I see an entire generation of parents who have given up everything for the sake of their kids. Though parenting in every age and time has its challenges accrued to the ecosystem, I feel that the generation of our parents i.e. the 90s, comprised of a large section of middle-class families where fathers were the prime earners and mothers the homemakers. This is the generation of parents who lost themselves to a constant call of responsibility Continue Reading

Book Review – The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad

posted by Anupriya September 5, 2017 51 Comments

When Twinkle Khanna came up with her first book Mrs Funnybones she became the voice of every mother, daughter, wife and every other role that an Indian woman plays in her life. Her skillful infusion of humor and sarcasm into deep rooted issues that encompass our generation was a lease of fresh air for every reader. So yes, when her second book was announced, I right away pre-ordered the book as I was particularly interested in discovering how ‘Tina’ has adorned the role of a fiction writer from her current I-have-this-opinion-on-this-issue style of writing. I have been able to read the book only 10 months after just reflects that I am a real busy mom!

The Legend Of Lakshmi Prasad by Twinkle Khanna is an ensemble of four short stories. I wish I could say that the four stories bring to you variant aspects of lives of women from different walks of life. Though three of the four stories do exactly that, Continue Reading
