ZEE5’s Kaafir – What’s it like being a mother in this day and age?

I have been extremely wary of the deluge of web series available on various platforms. Reasons? Well, with two boys in the tow, I can’t be seen with a gadget in my hands for too long. Also, I am scared that I might not be able to pull myself out of the plethora of content available online as of date.

But now and then I come across content that is not only pertinent but also promises to be emotionally supercharged. One such web series Kaafir has released on ZEE5 on 15th June. I happened to watch its trailer earlier and figured that Kaafir is the story of a Pakistani girl who due to very peculiar circumstances lands in Kashmir and is detained on charges of being a militant.  Continue Reading

Keep Your D.A.T.E. with your dreams even if you are 50 years old

“India is over-flowing with a large number of over-qualified home-makers (read women), who have no idea what to do with their education.” With this statement, I was left pondering upon the fate of women who never let their careers kick-start because they were made to believe, or themselves felt that their families were to take precedence over everything. In this context, I came across this short movie on ZEE5 D.A.T.E., where it has been so aptly depicted that we have a section of women who have diligently catered to the needs of their family without faltering.

They have seen their husbands off to work and kids to school making sure they are never late. They have made whatever efforts it required to meet deadlines, whether it was to provide timely meals for family members or to help their kids submit their school projects. Their efficient management skills ensured that the household ran like a well-oiled machine without ever coming to a stand-still. In this process, they haven’t been able to keep their D.A.T.E. with their career aspirations.
